Press Release
31st May 2008 NEW HELICOPTER MUSEUM YEAR BOOK The Helicopter Museum (THM) has published its first Year Book and Guide, an innovative annual publication which combines a number of feature articles about aircraft in the collection with details of the more than 80 exhibits, the background history of the museum and other visitor information. The aim of the museum is to build up a detailed history of the museum’s aircraft year by year, together with stories about how we have acquired individual exhibits, the trials and tribulations, and the restoration” says Chairman of the Trustees Elfan ap Rees. “Most visitors have no idea of what goes on behind the scenes, so reading this will be an eye-opener”. The first edition has been published in colour with support from helicopter manufacturer AgustaWestland and Avia Press Associates, publishers of Helicopter International and HeliData News Classified. The book includes a feature on the history of the Bristol Belvedere helicopter, which was developed at Weston-super-Mare, and the recovery and initial restoration of the museum’s example. Other special features cover the THM world speed record breakers, recovering a Hind attack helicopter from East Germany and The Queen’s Flight helicopters.
Available from the THM shop by mail order at £4.50 per copy , the new
book is expected to make a useful contribution to the museum’s revenue
figures, whilst Editors Elfan ap Rees and Geoff Russell are already
planning the 2009 edition. |
