Press Release
16th March 2008 ‘DANCING ON AIR’ It was celebration time this weekend at Jayne Elizabeth Dance School in Worle as the money students raised from their 2008 show was eagerly counted up. A representative of the dance schools nominated charity, CLIC was then presented with a cheque for £260. Their show ‘Dancing On Air’ at the Weston Playhouse Theatre featured a host of song and dance numbers from musicals as diverse as ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ , ‘Hairspray’ and ‘High School Musical’. Programmes were sold and collections were made both during the intervals and after the performances to raise money for the charity that cares for children with cancer. Help also came from another of Weston-super-Mare’s charities as the Helicopter Museum donated the star prize for the shows ‘lucky programme’ raffle to help boost its sales. “With a show called ‘Dancing On Air’ what could be a more suitable prize than helicopter flights” said Museum Operations Manager Lee Mills “Jayne Elizabeth’s is a very professional dance school and their annual shows at the Playhouse are always performed to an extremely high calibre, we were only too glad that we could get involved and help raise money for a really good cause.” However it’s not just with local dance schools that the helicopter Museum wants to get involved. With the appointment of an education officer, construction of a new classroom on site and a summer exhibition for youngsters, the Helicopter Museum is aiming to get a whole new generation interested in aviation.
