Press Release
1st August 2007
The summer season has started with a bang this year for The Helicopter Museum in Weston-super-mare with record breaking visitor numbers in June and July. They have also had a Royal visit and in the same week hosted the largest corporate event in the Museums 18 year history. The corporate day saw several local firms take over a large section of the museum hanger to display solar panels and energy efficient home appliances. Delegates were then treated to a two course dinner in the Museums hospitality marquee before enjoying helicopter flights around the local coastline. Volunteer Peter Noyle, who gave the delegates guided tours on the day said “I never thought I’d see the world speed record holding helicopter displayed between a boiler and a washing machine!” Operations Manager Lee Mills added “The day was a complete success for all involved and, as the sun was shining, everyone really enjoyed their helicopter flights.” With the school holidays upon us the Museum has scheduled extensive Helicopter flight days throughout August to cope with the high demand. “We are flying every Wednesday afternoon throughout August” added Mr Mills “as well as on our ‘Open Cockpit Day’ on August the 12th and bank holiday flights on the 26th and 27th” For details of the fifteen mile flights around Weston’s coastline please call the museum on 01934 635227. The Helicopter Museum is a registered charity and is now open daily throughout August. Its summer exhibition ‘The Falklands Conflict’ also runs until the end of the month.
